Our Commitment

All Clinical Team members, as well as several Directors and Advisors are certified in Indigenous Awareness and Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA+). The Clinical Team understands the ethical imperative to seek knowledge and understanding and commit to self-reflection before engaging with Indigenous clients and communities. The criticality of cultural humility and recognition of cultural blindness are focal points in program development and delivery, and consultation with Elders and knowledge-keepers is prioritized. LWH fosters meaningful relationships with Indigenous Directors, Advisors, and organizations.

Every Team Member (staff and volunteers) at Legacy West Healing (LWH) has experience working with and addressing the needs of individuals affected by trauma. To ensure Team Members are working within their scope of competence, the Clinical Team is equipped with a trained trauma specialist who is a member of the International Association of Trauma Professionals and a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Anybody with direct contact with Eggshells Program participants will also have Vulnerable Sector Clearance as required.

Our Code Of Ethics

The Clinical Team is guided by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) Code of Ethics. The expectations for ethical conduct as expressed in this Code are based on the following fundamental principles:
